Wines of Germany at TEXSOM 2022

Ahead of TEXSOM 2022, Wines of Germany invites you to try German wine trivia!

Get out those proverbial pencils and notebooks and test your knowledge of Germany’s wine history, geography, varieties, and styles. Germany’s wine history is an extensive one, dating back 2,000 years. After the Romans introduced viticulture to the Germanic territories around the year 50 BC, Emperor Charlemagne started regulating viticulture and viniculture in the 9th century. He is said to be the founder of the first Strausswirtschaft, a seasonal wine bar that allowed winegrowers to sell wines and food on-premise. Today, German vintners are still introducing innovative ideas to modernize while respecting their traditions: celebrating iconic varieties like Riesling while experimenting with new grapes, styles, and techniques.
